The journey of Solward has always been guided by a deep conviction: to innovate without ever losing sight of sustainability. That’s why the arrival of Mediaset’s cameras, with the program E-Planet and the feature Il viaggio sostenibile, was a special moment for us. It wasn’t just a TV appearance, but confirmation that our daily commitment, the technology we develop, and the vision we pursue are recognized as concrete examples of how agrivoltaics can become an important building block in the ecological transition.
Television has always been a powerful medium to reach people’s hearts. Being chosen to tell our story means shining a light not only on a company, but on an entire vision: a future in which agriculture and renewable energy grow together, generating value, efficiency, and hope.
When we talk about agrivoltaics, we’re not just referring to photovoltaic panels set among fields. We mean a different philosophy that imagines a new, more harmonious relationship between the land and the sun. It puts at the center those who farm and live in those places, turning technology into an everyday support tool, not an obstacle. Our single axis trackers, like those installed in the 3.6 MW plant in the province of Parma, were created with this goal: to comply with regulations, of course, but above all to respect the real lives of farmers and agricultural businesses. It’s not about imposing standard solutions from above, but proposing useful tools that integrate with the rhythms of work in the fields.
Their movement follows the sun and accompanies the crops. Thanks to this dynamism, the panels become much more than simple generators: they become true allies. They produce clean electricity while also shielding crops from increasingly frequent and intense weather events, creating a more stable microclimate and helping reduce water stress. And all this without depriving plants of the light they need, because it is distributed more evenly. It’s a delicate balance, almost a dance between technology and nature, that shows how innovation and agriculture can not only coexist, but support each other. In this light, agrivoltaics is not a compromise; it’s a shared growth opportunity that provides food and energy in harmony, generating value for people and the environment.
A clear example of this approach is the Solignano plant, where our trackers are positioned at 4 meters in height. This choice stems from directly listening to farmers’ needs: it allows them to keep working with tractors and machinery under the structures without obstacles, making full use of every square meter of land. Walking between the rows, it’s immediately clear that photovoltaics do not take space away from the land; they enrich it, turning the environment into a place where clean energy is interwoven with agricultural tradition.
In this plant there is no competition, but collaboration. The energy produced by the panels takes nothing away from the crops, and the crops do not hinder energy production: they coexist, complement, and support one another. It’s a synergy that becomes tangible up close and that embodies a philosophy that has always guided us: finding the balance between the need to produce clean energy and the need to respect and support those who cultivate the land. It’s a powerful message of concrete innovation, a possible future, and genuine respect for those who work every day in the fields with passion and dedication.
Alongside the projects already completed, we chose to look ahead and experiment. That’s how Hydrosun was born: a project that combines photovoltaics with open field hydroponic cultivation. The idea is simple and revolutionary at the same time: leverage the conditions created by the panels to grow in new ways, without having to raise them to 4 meters.
With Hydrosun, the panels become part of an innovative agricultural ecosystem. They provide shade and thermal stability, protect against heavy rain, and diffuse light more evenly. And thanks to targeted fertigation, plants always receive the right amount of water and nutrients. It’s not just a technical test; it’s an open air laboratory to understand which crops are best suited and how to make this model sustainable from an economic perspective as well. It’s a project that reflects our desire to dare and explore new paths, with eyes on the future and feet firmly on the ground.
Seeing our story told on Italia 1 was moving. It wasn’t just the presentation of a plant or a project, but an opportunity to speak to many people about a possible future. Talking about agrivoltaics means talking about the environment, technology, and people: farmers who can work better, communities that can become more autonomous and sustainable, and new generations who will inherit a cleaner world.
Such storytelling helps build awareness. It allows everyone to understand that these are not abstract ideas or distant scenarios, but realities already underway, tangible and concrete. Being featured means inspiring and leaving a mark, opening the way for those who wish to follow the same path.
In a rapidly growing sector, not all companies can showcase concrete results. We can. Mediaset’s recognition confirms that Solward is now a benchmark. The combination of experience, research, and experimentation enables us not only to meet current challenges, but to anticipate future ones. Farmers and energy communities know they can rely on us. And that makes us even more responsible: every project is a promise kept, every plant a living testament to our commitment.
Our work is not limited to installing plants or developing innovative projects. Agrivoltaics, as we understand it, is a true cultural and economic model. It means rethinking our relationship with land and energy: ensuring food and electricity without waste, without compromise, without conflict.
We imagine a future in which cultivated fields and energy plants are not separate, but united in a single vision. A future in which local communities are stronger and more resilient, and in which farmers’ work is protected and enhanced. It’s a scenario that concerns not only energy, but the lives of all of us, built on more informed choices and shared opportunities.
Mediaset’s visit and the feature on E-Planet will remain an important milestone for us. It’s recognition that motivates us to move forward with even more energy and tells us we are on the right path.
Our work, between agrivoltaics and Hydrosun, is not just research or business; it is a vision of the future. A future in which innovation and sustainability walk together, under the sun and above the soil, showing that a new development model is not only possible, but already real. Telling this vision, and living it every day, is what makes us proud to be Solward.
